
A Breath of Fresh Air for Cleaire
The path toward cleaner air begins with a diesel engine. At least, it does with
Cleaire retrofit emission control systems, which are installed on thousands of trucks,
busses, and other diesel-powered vehicles and enable them to meet the strictest EPA
and California emissions performance standards. Cleaire chose NetSuite for its fully
integrated, Cloud business system, and in January 2008, the company began
using its manufacturing features to automate several primary business processes.
Product Builds
Cleaire's emission control systems are sophisticated assemblies, comprised of numerous
parts. In the past, product builds, assemblies, and the Bill of Materials (BOM) for each
assembly were created manually, which was time-consuming and vulnerable to error.
NetSuite's manufacturing capabilities now enable Cleaire to automatically track components
and labor as assemblies are built and to build accurate BOMs for each.
Install Cases
When each Cleaire system is installed, an install case is opened to provide detailed installation
information, in the event that a warranty repair is needed. Cleaire's internal MLinc system captures
engine diagnostic data at installation and each subsequent service, and using customized scripts
written by DSG, outputs files directly to NetSuite. Now Cleaire can manage these files as install
cases, gaining deep visibility into each install, ensuring that the correct system is installed in
each vehicle, and enabling any potential issues to be immediately addressed. Install case data is also used for regulatory reporting—in the past, this required manually reconciling data from
several different systems.
Web Portal…and More
Cleaire is also rolling out its new Web portal through NetSuite, which enables customers to easily
submit orders online and provides dealers with access to the latest documentation and software.
Cleaire plans to deploy the work order capabilities of NetSuite, which will significantly streamline
production on the shop floor and provide instant status visibility to everyone involved in production.
NetSuite's bulk email feature enables Cleaire to easily send out notices and updates to its customers,
and allows customers to easily open cases with the company's support organization and attach notes,
images, or related files for faster follow-up and case closure.
