On-demand Solutions: The Next Phase
On-demand solutions have undergone a huge change during the past three years. Since our founding, Software as a Service (SaaS) and on-demand solutions have become widely accepted by the market for three good reasons:

They're incredibly cost-effective
They're fast to implement and adopt
They don't require a high initial investment

During this time, SaaS vendors, integrators, and users have contributed much to standardizing the ways in which companies use on-demand solutions. If anyone has lingering doubts about SaaS's viability, they will quickly be laid to rest as the big guys—Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, and others—rush to market with SaaS products. What does that mean for you? First, if you purchased an on-demand solution, you made a good decision. Second, if you're looking for one, you're in the right place. Third, your business has already benefitted from on-demand software capabilities—or it soon will. As SaaS enters the next phase of its evolution, we expect many more vendors to offer new on-demand solutions. Instead of just a few CRM and ERP vendors, we expect to see many more ERP vendors, as well as providers of on-demand solutions for specific vertical markets, such as Manufacturing. We think this will be a natural progression as the on-demand model becomes the preferred way of purchasing software and the market looks for a broader range of products. And that's good for you, too.

Thanks for considering DSG as your solutions provider. We're excited about the next phase and what it promises. If you're already a client, we look forward to further expanding the capabilities you receive from your on-demand solution.

DSG Completes Three NetSuite MC3 Implementations

In April, DSG completed three implementations of NetSuite OneWorld—the only NetSuite reseller to have performed multiple OneWorld implementations. Our experience with OneWorld will help clients quickly deploy the new capabilities and streamline critical business processes for multiple subsidiaries or business units.

DSG Newest Intacct Reseller
DSG recently became an Intacct Business Solution Provider partner—one of the few Intacct partners that is not an outsourced accounting service. DSG sells and implements Intacct, and often recommends the software to complement Salesforce.com solutions.

NetSuite Functionality
Enhancements

NetSuite continues to invest in its platform, with NetSuite 2008.1, which will deliver significant functionality enhancements:

OneWorld—now customers can create intercompany allocation schedules
Manufacturing—new Work Order capabilities improve coordination of the entire manufacturing process, including single and multi-level bill-of-material explosion, inclusion of work instructions, and automated work order creation.
Alerts—numerous alert improvements have been made, as well as notification about Key Performance Indicators, and a better dashboard
eCommerce—more flexibility to define how out-of-stock items are handled on a web site
Customization—new import capabilities have been added and more areas can be customized.

Intacct Spring 2008 Delivers What Customers Want

Intacct unveiled its latest edition of the Intacct Financial Management System, which features Intacct Insight—real-time business visibility through Web-based dashboards, interactive reports, analytics, Web 2.0 mashups, and performance management features. Call DSG for a demo!

Salesforce for Google Apps
Two of the world's largest marketing forces expanded their global alliance in April when Salesforce.com applications combined with Google Apps productivity applications. The two companies' relationship represents a new way for businesses to communicate and collaborate over the Web in real time. DSG says... this is just the beginning.

NetSuite in Manufacturing
In this issue, we'll look at three NetSuite features optimized for use by a manufacturer.

Inventory Management
NetSuite continues to enhance its inventory management capabilities, making it easy to plan based on lead time, preferred stocking levels, seasonal demand, and re-order points. NetSuite provides analytical reports that simplify overall inventory planning and provide the ability to auto-generate orders based on your needs.

Order Management
New work order capabilities allow customers to improve coordination of the overall manufacturing process. The work order now includes single and multi-level bill-of-material explosion, and enables customers to attach work instructions. Work orders can be automatically created based upon demand, or manually created based upon a manufacturing build plan.

Installed Base Management
DSG has customized NetSuite order management capabilities for several clients, enabling them to track specific product units being shipped to specific customers. For example, one automotive assembly manufacturer tracks each unit shipped by customer and by the specific vehicle that the unit is installed on. With this data, the company can monitor assembly reliability, instantly identify potential warranty issues, and other product performance attributes. The Installed Base Management feature can be further extended to integrate with warranty data. For example, a customer can track when a product is shipped, whether or not it is installed, in or out of warranty, or how it is being used.

A Breath of Fresh Air for Cleaire

The path toward cleaner air begins with a diesel engine. At least, it does with Cleaire retrofit emission control systems, which are installed on thousands of trucks, busses, and other diesel-powered vehicles and enable them to meet the strictest EPA and California emissions performance standards. Cleaire chose NetSuite for its fully integrated, on-demand business system, and in January 2008, the company began using its manufacturing features to automate several primary business processes.

Product Builds
Cleaire's emission control systems are sophisticated assemblies, comprised of numerous parts. In the past, product builds, assemblies, and the Bill of Materials (BOM) for each assembly were created manually, which was time-consuming and vulnerable to error. NetSuite's manufacturing capabilities now enable Cleaire to automatically track components and labor as assemblies are built and to build accurate BOMs for each.

Install Cases
When each Cleaire system is installed, an install case is opened to provide detailed installation information, in the event that a warranty repair is needed. Cleaire's internal MLinc system captures engine diagnostic data at installation and each subsequent service, and using customized scripts written by DSG, outputs files directly to NetSuite. Now Cleaire can manage these files as install cases, gaining deep visibility into each install, ensuring that the correct system is installed in each vehicle, and enabling any potential issues to be immediately addressed. Install case data is also used for regulatory reporting—in the past, this required manually reconciling data from several different systems.

Web Portal…and More
Cleaire is also rolling out its new Web portal through NetSuite, which enables customers to easily submit orders online and provides dealers with access to the latest documentation and software. Cleaire plans to deploy the work order capabilities of NetSuite, which will significantly streamline production on the shop floor and provide instant status visibility to everyone involved in production. NetSuite's bulk email feature enables Cleaire to easily send out notices and updates to its customers, and allows customers to easily open cases with the company's support organization and attach notes, images, or related files for faster follow-up and case closure.

"NetSuite is extremely logical and easy to use," said Dr. Brad Edgar, president and chief technology officer of Cleaire. "We're pleased with Demand Solutions Group and its ability to quickly get up to speed on our requirements, deliver a real solution, and continue to be responsive to our changing needs. The solution is a success, and we look forward to using more of its capabilities."
